It was only 60 years ago that factory farming started to take off and change our American way eating. Before that time most of what is taught regarding seasonal eating in Ayurveda was common knowledge. We ate with the seasons because that is what was available.
The “ecology” and “economy” of the body and person in Ayurvedic thought fundamentally differ from the mechanistic and compartmentalized biomedical model of the body.

And so today, and every day, we thank Lord Dhanvantri, the healer within each one of our hearts, for the knowledge of Ayurveda. I write this post, in honor of this cosmic principle – the principle of love, healing and the nectar of immortality. May we all experience more health, healing and prosperity this year through the alignment of mind, body and soul.
I have been working on these habits for about two months and I can say that these changes don’t come easily. It is a paradigm shift. It is emphasized that it is more important how you eat, than what. I have changed a few of the ‘what’s’, but for now, and until my understanding of the ‘why’s’ has deepened, I think it’s most important to focus on the ‘how’s’.
How can we choose what we experience and how can we improve our experience? One method I employ is to practice Karma Yoga.
